Regarding the $87 billion: Kudos to Kerry for supporting an amendment about where the money comes from, that’s what a congressman is supposed to do, but the overall vote is a simple yea or nea. When I watch the republicans itemize the elements in the bill (i.e. – Kerry voted against this, voted against that, etc.) I’m not thinking that each was a separate vote. Rather, by voting against the package, those were individual things he voted against to “make his stand”. It’s a rhetorical flourish, but a completely legitimate one.
