Ah - so when it's France, it's okay for the local people to want the damn ferner's out of their country. But when WE'RE someplace... supposedly "liberating" them from whatever...it's okay. Nice double standard there.
From the historical viewpoint: Korea - grave and gathering danger? (well sure - communism was on the rise) Vietnam - grave and gathering danger? (well sure - communism was on the rise) Nicaragua - grave and gathering danger? (well sure - communism was on the rise) Iraq- Grave and Gathering Danger? (well sure - they were working with Bin Laden) To further deflate that argument... the 9-11 commission indicates that there was no discernible evidence of the Al-Qaeda/Iraq link. In Fact information shows that when approached by Bin-Laden, Iraq did not respond, make with the Clicky Okay, okay - Yes, Saddam was a bad man, starving his people, oppressing minorities, torturing people in Abu Ghairab (hey waitaminit) But if we're going after such bad people regardless of bin Laden ties, made up or not...why don't we go after North Korea? Hey! There's even the grave and growing danger of communism there! Seems they were more of a "Grave and Gathering Danger" even before Iraq happened. Oh wait, that's right - NO OIL IN KOREA. ... and the little problem of those nukes. possibly.
Hrmmm... Them Canadians are looking mighty grave...dangerously so.

No double standard, unless you think Tahiti was a grave and gathering danger for France.
